Dan Ash
A veteran of club dates in the New York metro area, Dan takes every opportunity to get out in front of people and play. He’s comfortable in any number of styles: rock, acid-jazz, and recently in solo-acoustic outings. When not recording with The New Suburbans, Dan currently performs as a member of several groups, including the Westchester-based jazz-funk quartet ‘The Presbyterians’, the acoustic and classic-rock band ‘The Hammerheads’ and playing his ‘without a net’ solo acoustic arrangements of roots and rock favorites. He’ll occasionally venture out for performances featuring guitar synth drones and looped improvised orchestral ‘arrangements’.
Dan met Geoff MacAdie at Bard College where they discovered that they had similar tastes in music and then found common ground in exploring edgy jazz-rock and improv. Geoff presented several original numbers and it became clear that there was a wellspring to be tapped. Dan encouraged him to present ever more outrageous themes and they began to perform originals and covers in several Connecticut and New York-based bar bands. They recruited Rowen shortly thereafter and The New Suburbans was the result.
